BOOK OF AFRICAN RECORDS The Book of African Records founded by Erol K T Muzawazi in 2013. This Afrocentric Quiz invited schools to take pride in their continent through research about their continent. St. Faith High School were the National Champions in 2013. In 2014 the Book of African Records invited St Mary's Beitbridge to take part in this high school quiz. The school accepted the invitation and took part in this competition. As second runners up of Matebeleland South, St Mary's Secondary School went for the National Competitions. In this competition St Marys was knocked out in the first round and the winners of the tournament was Mwenezi High School. In 2015 St. Mary's yet again became second runners up for Mat South and qualified to go for the National Tournament. Unfortunatly, due to the school's unstable financial state, the school regretably did not go for the national competitions. In 2016, the school's quiz team continued researching and braved the competitions. Mtshabezi High School became the Provincial Winners and St Mary's took position 2 while Mzingwane High School was on position 3. From the 15nth of August, all Zimbabwean Schools representing the 10 Provinces gathered at Rest Haven Harare for the National competitions. To everyone's surprise, St. Mary's team reached to the finals after obtaining position one in all the Heats of the tournament. With 33 points St. Mary's became the National Champions while Goromonzi High School and Hartzel had to break a tie of 24 through a do or die to determine position 2 and 3. Eventually Hartzel settled for a Silver and Goromonzi a bronze medal. The 2016 National Champions, St Mary's Secondary walked away with Lenovo Laptops, while Hartzel's team walked away with tablets each and Goromonzi team with smart phones. The Champions' team broke a record for being the youngest team ever to win the tournament since it was established in 2013. This tournament will be televised on national Television.
